Lessons sigh
fly
on wings

fly the path of
a suffering dove

this light far-fallen

Fallen past all myth
she's facing
truth

as fable gifts
exchange
of dreaming for

forget

heart's easing
a
star's death

a tired life
yearning her relief

her memory's loss

Loss of aching soul
she's shining
now

over the alone
adrift
with a wish for

forget
just forget...

dream no more
lost light

I have to agree with Denise. Beautifully done.

NOT IN VAIN
If I can stop one heart from breaking
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life
from aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Into his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.

The form is a wondrous rendition of the DNA helix, whether by accident or design it adds much to the effect of this piece.

Your poem is like a delicate butterfly living only for today. Beautiful, sad, evolving into something else. I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Severn, go with the way you have with words. I think it will take you places.

Severn, so bittersweet this piece, beautiful and sad at the same time. My thoughts are with you.

I agree with mc....I felt a strange sense of peace likewise....Sometimes, it helps to write of closure - maybe that's what I felt...closure. Forgetting and moving on in our lives is one of the hardest of obstacles....I find myself struggling with it everyday. Be strong, and continue writing with the beauty you have here - very uplifting even in hard times. Thank you for sharing.

In the cocoon, waiting to emerge and find her wings. Oh, beautiful butterfly, thy name is Severn.
Beautiful thoughts tied together in this one.

It's funny, but not so long ago I did describe myself to someone as being very much like a butterfly - you must have read my mind - though I didn't include the beautiful part!!!
You honour me Marge.
