Butterflies are nice

I watched a butterfly fly by,
Playing on the breeze.
Splashing colors in my eye,
Like winters falling leaves.

And the bright of the shining light,
Made rainbows in the air
Bringing magic to the sight
Of the butterfly flying there.

I watched it in a quiet mood
Glued upon the spot.
And thought within my quietude
On what is why and not?

My mind collected all I knew,
Of butterflies alive.
Of cocoons and when their due
And how and why they thrive.

Women seem like butterflies
In actions and in look.
They surely catch the wandering eye
On that you can make book.

And though I've studied them in muse,
I'm still a little bit confused.

Well - a 'simple' little poem on butterflies turned into a commentary on women!
LOL - and you men think you have problems understanding US!
Great work again Seymour.

Severn,
You know even I don't know which way my mind will turn. So often I am surprised with the end. Thank you for the comment.
Scott,
I think you are right, thank you for the read.
Sunshine,
Yes that is a big word, glad you enjoyed.
Denise,
You have a keen mind, you always catch that little devilish tweek. Thanks

Seymore, perhaps 'tis because (now I speak only for myself not all women mind you) butterflys symbolize two things
#1 Metamorphisis (changes)...going from something as plain and ordinary as a catipiller to something as beautiful and different as a butterfly. Do you know there are no two butterflies exactly alike, like snowflakes.
#2 Freedom...they go from being contained in something as restrictive as a cocoon to emerging with graceful wings and flying on the wind. Oh, what a wonderful feeling that would be to stretch those wings for the very first time

Metamorphosis

A butterfly
dances gracefully
on wings so fine.

A cocoon
lies empty
in a heap nearby.

A caterpillar
once crawled there
on soft spring grass.

A butterfly
now flies above
in summer skies.

Seymour, I like this a lot. You had me tuned into nature perfectly, then gave me a reality check and I loved it even more.
Thanks.

Sy, From "Give me a Kiss"

Give me a kiss and I'll tell you a tale
Of butterfly wings that flutter and sail
They tumble and twist, but when they are still
They make your heart throb at the wonder and thrill

So dainty and light they are swept by the wind
You could never imagine the strength from within
How in the world do they manage to go
On a round trip vacation to old Mexico?

We think we invented all manner of flight
But we're awed and appalled at the butterfly's might

Moral: Well, you know.

Lovely poem!
