Talent and skill
at writing verse,
blessing for some,
for others curse,
flows
from fingertips
in tales of weal
and of woes
that outstrips
any pleasure
coming from such
mercurial treasure.

From depressive lows
come not
even poems of woes
rage itself
burns high and cold
seeming to die
though filling one
with tales untold
that remain undone.

From manic heights
once came
spiteful delights
fury fueling
ever enduring
fragments dueling
over the rights
to my soul
that seek more
to die
than make
me whole.

Mania,
now keys
to my writing,
leaves the cruelties
reigniting
the fires
of my own desires
to put to pen
both prose and verse
once again
reveling
in my curse.

See? You are great at freeverse!
I particularly like the 4th stanza - it's very expressive and quite possibly captures the essence of many a poet's motivations.
Well done my friend.

Oh, that I might be cursed as you are!

Wonderful verse, here -- as usual.

DE, I think anyone who writes poetry or prose is afflicted with something. I have been told we create our own form of insanity. Just bask in it and go on.
