(I can't paint, but my Grandma can!)

my Grandmother has an artist's heart
her fingertips can fashion wondrous delights
as she sees visions in her mind
of oceans and mountains and fields
and the desire to paint strikes her
brush flying over the blank canvas
creating a glimpse into her dreams

she always dreamed I'd paint too
but my fingers feel like stone
when I lift a brush or charcoal
to untouched canvas
and the beauty in my heart
won't make the short trip
from mind to paper

yet when I pick up a pen
to inscribe words
of nature's rapturous beauty
the vision flows from me
and I paint
yes I paint with pen and word

Ahhhh! XAngel ... and a masterpiece you penned with this one. Grandma will be proud.

Thanks, I should show it to her, but I am a bit nervous LOL ! Poems are such personal things when we share them with people who know us IRL.

Lovely poem, Angel. And your grandmother would be proud.

I tend to disagree...I think you paint just fine, only with a pen instead of a brush

X Angel,
Painting is painting what matters the midium?
If you show her your words she might put them to paint. Now would'nt that be nice?
Good poem.

like this a lot Xangel, and yep know just what you mean, I openly share with all of you, but rarely does anyone IRL get to read my poems. But I think your grandma would love it....its a tribute to her as well as you

Indeed, you do create a painting with your words! Nicely said!

I think that painting grandma will understand the art
of painting words you do so well
for they both come from the heart.

XAngel I think Martie said it. I think Grandma would be really happy! The gifts that come from the heart are the best gifts of all! Excellent painting here!

Thanks you guys so much! It made my day to come home after work tonight and see all these replies. My Grams is important to me! I think I'll give her this for Christmas or something.

Ah, yes.

Paint with a brush, or with a pen
But the beauty you're describing
Really has no end.
