It's a day that's meant for families,
To give thanks for all our blessings.
To carve a succulent turkey,
Fill up on cornbread dressing.

Sadly some call it "Turkey" day,
To me that is so sad,
It isn't Balladeer's birthday?,
But for thanks of what we have.

Why celebrate the Turkey?
Though it gave it's life for me,
To remind us of Thanksgiving,
That's how it's meant to be.

I'm thankful for so many things,
For my kids my friends my health,
For all these things mean much to me,
They're how I measure wealth.

This year when I give thanks,
I'll include LongJohn Silver too,
He's the one that brought me here,
So I could be thankful for all of you.

ROFL @ Balladeer's birthday.... and a double thumbs up for a great poem! Any thanks I give starts with gratitude for you!

LJA didn't tell me about this place, you did... so while I'll gladly give thanks for the poetry forums, I don't have to give thanks for that ole scalawag... do I? *G*

It's that turkey Balladeer
and even you dear Toe,
all the rascels and the rebels
and the folks who got to show
pieces of their heart so true
with intention only good,
thanks for these friends and family
and this great neighborhood.

Hey, Toe! It's turkeys like you that make this a plesant place to be. The custom at our house has always been such that each person must tell of something for which they are thankful.

And I give thanks to my parents, for the patience they'd shown,
and I thank all of you, for reading my poem.

I thank him for Mike and his help and guidance. his kind words and helpful hints have helped me improve my poetry.

There are so many others I am thankful for, but to meantion everyone of you would fill up this thread in no time.

Beautiful friendships
From these poetic ranks
Will be high on my list
As I offer my thanks.

People I've come
To love through their words -
Thought provoking, erotic,
Or even absurd.

There's no question that Toerag
Is special to me
And other dear friends
Have become family.

I wish I could show them
Every day
What they add to my life,
How they ease my way.

As Thanksgiving Day nears
We'll be far apart
But I hope that they know
They're held close in my heart.

Toe, a great poem from an even greater man ... ... I wish I had your abilities with words ... but on second thought, I can't be bigger than you in *every* matter can I ?

Auntie, that's a beautiful comment ... I'm dittoing the hairy O&O ...
