The year is filled with holidays,
Always seems to be a reason
For celebrating something
Each and every single season...

But you can take the other ones
And wad them in a ball.
Just let me have Thanksgiving. It's
My favorite one of all.

New Year's eve can make me grieve.
The weather gets much colder
And I don't need reminders that
The world and I are older.

Easter is another. Doesn't
Anyone think it's funny
That we celebrate with colored eggs
Laid by some hairy bunny?

Valentine's Day? Please go away!
Call me a fuddy-duddy
But Cupid was quite stupid
All those years I had nobody.

Halloween can vent my spleen
With its costumes, masks and such.
If I want to be scared witless,
Evening news is bad enough.

Christmas time's no friend of mine
Every time it nears.
I don't believe the three Wise Men
Bought their gifts at Sears!

But Thanksgiving is a special time;
No silly masks to get.
No futile search for colored eggs,
No reason to go in debt.

No Cupid's arrow through my heart,
No reminders I'm still living,
Just a special day with special friends...
Thank God we have Thanksgiving!

Just show me where the foods at...
Good poem, Balladeer, nothing better in life than 'Special Days with Special Friends".

Balladeer, friends make each day special ...
and this says it nicely. Really something to be thankful for.

I'm thankful for so many things
My life has been so blessed
And when I lift my heart it sings
That Passions is the best.
Such friendly folks that are great friends
And talented it's true
I hope the fun here never ends
'Cause then I'd be so blue!

GREAT POEM BALLADEER! THANK YOU!

I Thankyou Lord for all the things,
You've given through the years.
For friends and family beside my hearth,
For love that dried my tears.

I Thankyou Lord for many things,
For food and health and life.
For all the little forgotten things,
For soothing all my strife.

I Thankyou Lord on bended knee,
For all that you have done.
For every angel sent to my life,
For strength that I have won.

I'm thankful for a great many things....one being to have a special someone like you to make us think about the really important moments of our lives.

Thank you Mike, for so many things...most of all, for being a friend.

Sir Balladeer: Although I enjoy a number of those other days... It does seem that Thanksgiving is the one to have suffered least at the hands of commercialism and sappyism (nothing like making up your own words ). As alwasy, I like your style. I hope you're a good cook or know somebody who is. Eat well and be happy.
