Profoundly disturbed by the facts of life,
I reflect on the urgency of death.
I'm not one to give my wrist to the knife,
despair will never steal my final breath.

I reflect on the urgency of death,
firmly standing upon my own belief.
Despair will never steal my final breath,
life is pain so death will be sweet relief.

Firmly standing upon my own belief,
pain gives me the strength I need to endure.
Life is pain so death becomes sweet relief,
that peace carries a seductive allure.

Pain gives me the strength I need to endure,
endurance marks the turn of each season.
That peace carries a seductive allure,
sometimes lust for peace will obscure reason.

Endurance marks the turn of each season,
while I fight despair with my written word.
Sometimes lust for peace will obscure reason,
that lets my mind churn over the absurd.

While I fight despair with my written word,
I'm not one to give my wrist to the knife.
That lets my mind churn over the absurd,
profoundly disturbed by the facts of life.

This is an excellent piece, Dream. It is a good explanation of the thought behind it.

I agree with Caroline, Dream. This is truly excellent.

Well done, Dream. The pain is quite evident in this.

A glimpse into your shadows, surely. Pain is a fact of life -- as such you may rely on it. Words thoughtfully spoken.

Thought provoking, yet leaves me stuck in the paradox behind this word puzzle.

Lovely poem, Dreamie, I must agree with the opinion you express here.....however, I AM one to give my wrists to the knife, that is, if my life were to reach that point. However, I can understand where you come from......prolong the pain so that the relief is that much more joyous......

Very well done, Dream. I'm glad you ended this the way you did, I often worry about you at times. This is a relief to read as well as a very good poem.

The poem is well done, though I don't agree with some people's fascination with the 'blade'. And I'm glad you don't either.

The cruel facts of life
Cannot be studied by a knife
So write that poetry, my friend
Pour out your sorrow with a pen
