Let me love you as I would.
Let me love my way.
For you could not extract from me
one price that I would pay.
You can not demand of me
I would refuse to give.
Command me naught and you recieve
the very life I live.
Duty is a poor excuse,
a chore I may not meet.
If duty is my motive
then I'm destined to defeat.
Let me love you as I would.
Don't set for me a task.
And you'll recieve far more from me
than anything you ask.

Yesterday is history,
tomorrow just a mystery.
And if today is good to me,
it will beat the heck out of day before yesterday!

Great poem... and wise words!!! I wonder how many relationships would be saved if partners would remember that it's a privilege, not a duty, to meet their mate's needs? *G* I like this!

Ohme - you seem to think you are an inadequate poet and I beg to differ. This is lovely in my books.

Sally, Thank you.
suthern, it has to be bilateral or it does not work.
Sunshine. Glad you agree!
Rainbow- like a 2 way street!
Severn- I was referring to my desire to be able to write poetry on the fly. Quickly, lovely. No, not the over all talent. But thanks for the pat on the back.

This is fabulous, Lorene! I enjoyed it very much! Yep, love can't be duty or it's not love!

Thanks. So glad all of you agree with me.
If I couldn't give it on a silver platter (Tupperwear in my house) I wouldn't want to give it at all!

Love should never be a chore. Yes, it may take work but not "hard labor"!! Very well said and written Ohme.
