Sometimes I stop and muse about.. The vagaries of life... The worth of hearth and home, and kids, Of husband, or of wife. I contemplate...decisions made- The choices, good and bad. The tears I’ve cried, the joys shared- The good times that I’ve had. I think about the days gone by When I was punching cows- The dreamy wonder in her eyes, The night we took our vows. A brother that I buried deep, In nineteen ninety-six- The fights we had, and harsh words said, My concious often pricks. I think of days when I was young- And tall, and strong, and hard- My youth, my strength, these all have fled I’m old, and fat, and scarred. I wonder what is left to give- Life’s toll to satisfy? A mind which lives in yesterday? A body soon to die? |

This is a very powerful piece. I can relate to some of the things you speak of here. As always an enjoyable read! ------------------ Denise |
