This piece was originally written for a fictional Lady of great wealth and prestige who attended the wounded and dying during a time of siege. Where death flows like red rain Her touch is one of life Bestowed to those in pain Who suffer bloody strife Elbow high and knee deep She wears their stains of war And for each man does keep Death waiting at the door She wades in common blood Helping men in their need Fighting to staunch the flood From wounds that they do bleed Bandages made of silk Where once there was a dress Then the color of milk Now soaked in life's distress They know her not to be A Lady of great riches Her value they do see Is summed up in their stitches No matter what the price Not a pence does she spare For those who sacrifice Granting merciful care To our treasured Lady For the life you impart Thank you for giving free The wealth that's in your heart |

Wow, a wonderful piece Andrew. To m, the true the "riches" of a person are not to be measured in wealth. This was an awesome display of that. TY Michael |

Thanks for reaffirming my belief that you don’t need to carry a gun to be a hero ( or heroine ). Well done. |

Beautifully done, and much appreciated. It is nice to remember the love in this world of ours! If you love something, set it free, if it comes back to you, its meant to be... |

Excellent topic, Andrew. There are many unsung heroes who's works never get recognition......but they are heroes in their own right. To the world you might be just one person but to one person you might just be the world. |

To all that have graced me with your generous responses, you have my sincere appreciation. So many of you I hold in high regard and to see your remarks lifts this heart. Once again, thank you all. I would also like to give one final thanks to my friend Erik who provided the catalyst for this work... an excellent "game-master" who runs a fantasy role playing world so true to life that it enables me to write such works. |

Very nice, Andrew. Wealth is never found on a P&L statement or a bank balance. |
