Please tell me what it is I've done to you,
To make you say, "I quit, we're thru!".
Was it I who caused the mistiness in your eyes,
The reason for all your late night cries.

If it was, then I apologize for everything I've put you through,
I acted foolishly;as if I didn't have a clue.
I've always meant my intentions to be good,
To be able to love you as only a husband could.

Unfortunately, our expectations were too much to live up to,
So I sit here asking, "What else can I do?".
Please don't read this thinking that I'm weak,
For it's not your sympathy that I seek.

I just ask that you look at me, as you once did before,
As the man you once fell in love with;no less and no more.
Take me into your arms again,
If not as your lover, then please just as a friend.

All I want is to prove to you,
That living a life without you, I could never do.
So indulge me with an answer;"Is it true?",
That it was I who made you say, "I quit, we're thru!".

Mark this brought back alot of memories to me, so many times words hurt and leave scars across your heart. Maybe if I had some comfort when I cried or any empathy, the hurt would have healed, but I know that if He would have written a poem like this and showed it to me...then I would have forgave him and healed faster.

I enjoyed your poem!

Thank you all for your kind words.  It has been very hard for me and my ex these past few months, thankfully, poetry has become my release.
Romantic heart, and all who responded, keep on living for those things that make you truly happy.  Unless you fulfill these needs you'll never be really happy.  Remember, never, never take what you have for granted.
