That Old Dream Again Traversing tunnels of desire Unruly life, no grid patterns Nor treasure maps to follow Wishing-well sky out of reach My Pollyannaish daydreams Ever alive, so I set out Seeking the seer With my dog Jake And this old rusty truck Driving to your town, your Whimsical red and white barn Banjos on the wall Corny western art Bucking bronco lamp And a saddle chair A greeting, eyes meeting Old souls, whispers of specters Nothing more natural Than loving you In the eaves in the eve Listening to Barn Owls Jake by the fire You place before me Red berries Wine and wheat I show you my Ford Listening to radio stations From Mexico On two horses we ride Galloping in sunshade Leaves falling all around An earthy bed to explore Coming home once more As the sun sets in the west Hope refrains As you suggest Nonchalantly Shyly Stay © 1999 Corinne Bailey |
