Purgatorial Incarceration

Wandering Heart

a single pen
pilot of my dreams
soars me
through an endless
landscape of
never-ending

inking out portals
of potential
transporting
to fields of
possibilities

structured hope
-lined-
on an
-empty soul-
present wonders of
"what if's...
and
"why's?"

read as such
is
fantasy
just that?

-or-

are there
futures
left to be
explored?
-
-

maybe I'll find another way
find another day
with all the changing seasons
of my life
maybe I'll get it right
next time..."

Great piece, Christopher.  "Structured Hope" - that's an awesome line.  Wish I had thought that one up.  I have wandered right along with you there my friend.  Good job.

And each line is a meaning unto itself, while connecting to a greater whole - always loved how you could do that.

Fine fine verse, Chris.

What an interesting look at fantasy -- surely it is the vault where we keep our secret desires, and thus contains those things we strive toward ...

As to whether we will attain them?  Depends on the fantasy and the dreamer -- the will he or she has to see the dream through.

Thank you for sharing this, and making me wonder.

I liked this very much, the structure, the way it flowed, the thought behind it--well done Christopher.

Michael- Often I have noticed that we wander the same paths my friend!

Sey- Hey, thanx for dropping a line!

Marilyn- I have a firm belief that my life is chaotically structured!

Sharon- You're making me blush!

Caroline- When there are no longer futures left to explore, place my corpse in a shallow grave! I agree, there are always futures to explore!

Scott- That's me, my friend.

Kamla- Thanx! I try my best, though it's often not enough. And when it is, it is often in the wrong direction. Shrug, what can I do then?

Ruth- HUGS my friend!

Kess- My ability to write is all that allows me to accept this world and my place in it! T'were it not for that, I feel I would long since have given up. It is only through my words and my rhyme that I can leave this place of pain for one of my own design.

Nan- Thanks to you as well, now if you come up with any answers, please feel free to share them!

Gen- Thanks! That was my favorite line too!

Martie- Thanks for taking the time to read and reply! My thoughts are often confusing, I'm glad you could understand them!

Becca- Explore away my friend, the path lies through your imagination!

P.S. I loved your signature quote too. I think that " Estranged" is an absolutely beautifully written song.

I really enjoyed this, it is defintely "poetic".  Interesting your quote from Guns N'Roses, the forgotten band.  Thanks.

Just doing some re-reading - isn't it amazing what the context of time can do?
