My Fame and Glory

There is no luster to my life
No noted glory, no noted fame
For I have never sought a dream
Or felt completed in the same

But I have known some days of triumph
Through my children's precious deeds
And felt the glory and the pride
To which their honor always leads

Prestigious art awards for one
Another writes outstanding prose
One whose character is awarded
A queen whose inner beauty shows

And none of these things have I done
No talents ever came to light
But glancing through the family albumns
I was awakened at the sight

All the little birthday parties
All the guests from overseas
All the Christmas gatherings
All the little bandaged knees

And that has been my fame and glory
The daily care, the daily love
Which reaped so many fine awards
To which my spirit soared above

This is beautiful, Elizabeth! Sometimes we don't realize what an impact we have on our children and others around us! Great poem!

(sneaking back to work now...hehehehehe  )

Ah yes Elizabeth! Our fame is in our children and how we love them. You are immortal you know, you will live forever in your children and grandchilren..etc. Well written.

Elizabeth,
Your writing always mists my eyes,
Makes me laugh, makes me cry.
You have the touch, no mystery,
You are well logged, my history.

Denise and Marilyn, Both of you seem to have experienced the same, thank you for your comments. Denise, get back to work!
Liz

Sy,
I'm glad you like this poetry
You are a teacher of verse to me
For I have learned so much from you
Not only of rhyme but what is true
And if you say you like what you see
That is quite an honor to me

Elizabeth,
I genuflect and doff my hat,
I'm heavy for size but not that fat.

Lizzy - you have your own writing to provide luster, my friend. Who needs fame or glory when you have poetry I think.

This is gorgeous.
