Street lights illuminate the scene Dimming the brilliency of the stars. Leaves blow across the pavement-dry and brittle, Clattering like running footsteps in the night. The cold sidewalk underneath me as I Pull my hands inside my warm sleeves. A puff of breath billows from my lips And the cool night air streams through my hair. The sound of a train perks through the night Echoing down the empty streets. The train fades off into the distance And the church bell tolls the hour miles away. Through the door I hear my stereo Humming the beat of a love song heard only by me. I stare into the night watching so closely As the wind moves through the sillouetted trees. The leaves shuffle, sounding a gentle chime. The cold sound of lonely surrounds me And I shiver where I sit, staring at the sky. www.auburn.edu/~fergum1 ~*Only when it is dark enough can you see the stars*~ |

Your words bring the coldness that only lonely times can bring. I can see the street....the darkness, and the winter wind blow. Very nice poem Share what you are for you are what you share |

The sound of lonely - I love that title, Moonlight. A poem so soft it floats like a feather. |
