The ground covered wholly in soft winter blanket A luminous shroud of white and blue Dancing in the moonlight in singular flakes The snow falls soft and I think of you. Memories of childhood replay in my head Snow kissed by moonbeams of soft pale light Of winter's wonders and promises said Of patiently waiting up half the night. Snow days from school and free time for all Smiling as we played in the drifts Looking the fool when the snowman would fall And snowball fights with frozen fists. Funny how blue the rain makes us feel When falling and clouding our day And yet we face the snow with such zeal Watching it blot out the things in its way. So I'll relish the snowfall, enjoying each flake Cuddled here in the warmth of the hearth And love it for the beauty it makes And wish for you here in my arms. |

RSEvans - A splendid rendering. I like the warmth of the hearth ... a good place from which to watch the snowflakes fall. ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

I take it that beautiful snow is cold as well as soft. I'll take the sun and rain, but the hearth at night--yes. I liked the feeling of this--captured a mood. Nicely done. In the dew of little things, the heart finds its morning and is refreshed. (ee cummings) |

I saw the snow fall for the first time last week. it was beautiful. you captured the feeling well here. "Glory remains unaware of my neglected dwelling where alone I sing my tearful song which has charms only for me." -Charles Brugnot |

"cuddled here in the warmth of the hearth"..that is a wonderful line....and, by far, the best way to look out at the snow. Lovely poem. |

The winter can be warm and cozy with the right person by your side or it can be cold and lonely by yourself. I hope you have the right person so it will always be warm and cozy. Remember the "Blue Christmas" songs we used to listen too. The mountain was certainly beautiful with the snow and the glistening of ice on the trees. Especially when the sun came up in the morning on a fresh snowfall. Beautiful memories. Thanks. Shine a light and darkness disappears. |

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...we have had ONE snowfall and I live in Minnesota for heaven's sake! Loved your poem, RS, I enjoy the snowfalls (and the memories they bring) myself. |

Oh dear brother, you have made me want for snow! And I hate the stuff ! Only because I hate being confined to the house! I'm spoiled on 4x4, and I don't have it this year! Argh! Somehow you make me want to just curl up in front of our fireplace.....aaahhhh, with a hot Cappaccino! As a matter of fact, I just went downstairs and made one! My first of the winter season! Thank you ! - - - If I can just touch you once, then I feel I have accomplished what I am called to do...- - pFF |
