I remember the fall of your tears as I stare out at the rain. I recall the passage of the years, with echoes of all the pain. You cherished the life God did bestow, so you rose to meet each dawn. We died today just one year ago, now alone must I live on. My hand touches the tears on my face, just as my heart feels the ache. The flood of memories I embrace, are more than most men could take. The moonlight reflected off your eyes, would make me weak in the knees. I heard your love even in your sighs, and saw it in your striptease. Snowflakes once graced your hair like a veil, each sparkled like a jewel. The scent of your skin I would inhale, what passion that would fuel. Your lips quivered with our first kiss, your hesitant tongue touched mine. We first made love in eloquent bliss, with you I reached the divine. For a year today I've lived with grief, I've kept it bottled inside. Your death stole joy like a common thief, then it stripped me of my pride. I still hear echoes of your laughter, that touch me out of the past. I feel the sorrow that came after, the breath that became your last. At times I think I feel your presence, when at the end of my rope. The love that was our quintessence, lends me the power to cope. ©1999 DreamEvil Now and forever, my heart hears ~one voice~. DreamEvil - Very touching. I could feel the loss. Always hold on to those thoughts. You will move on ... but take these lovely memories with you. Especially the last line. ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

DE, I too find this to be sadly emotional. I couldn't even fathom dealing with such a loss as this. |

You have expressed your love and loss so beautifully here dream--may time bring to you wisdom from this experience In the dew of little things, the heart finds its morning and is refreshed. (ee cummings) |

This stole my breath. So sad -- and yet so lovely, the memories you write of here. Beautiful. --Kess You cannot choose the way of your death, but the path you choose will determine its own end. |

As usual, you convey the deepest feelings here in a poem that is expertly done. I like the turn you are taking with your poetry lately, whatever you're doing, stick with it. But I still LOVE your free verse. |

This is beautiful, DE. I want to echo PDV about your free verse. It matters not how strait the gate; How charged with punishments the scroll; I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul. --W.E. Henley |

Wow Scott! This my friend, has come from you pen to my heart... I am almost speechless. There is a stark intensity to this that leaves me in awe and empathizing...coping is not necessarily a fun thing as I well know! |

I must thank you all for the replies to this piece. It occurred to me as I read the replies to this one that some of those who replied thought this to be reality. It is in fact, fiction. I usually include a statement if the poem is based on or is a personal experience. I had not thought to do the latter, my apologies for any misconception this may have caused.< !signature--> Now and forever, my heart hears ~one voice~. This is incredibly beautiful, haunting, sad...it is awesome, whether it be fact or fiction. Wonderful work, my friend. I do so envy your magic. It's not the love you fear, but the fall from the height~Edwin McCain |
