In the space between moments

0 posted 1999-12-10 10:14 PM

Tense calmness shifts
Washing over
The air shivers
Fear rising
Blanketing the night
With sinister darkness.

Tortured moans
Purge from the skies
Melding with ancient screams
Heaven's tears
Tinged with innocent blood
Now begin to form.

With a deafening roar
The emerald horizon
Slowly tears apart
Our brave mother
Howls her forgotten curse
And begins to die.

Fire spews outward
A molten shower
Of eternal torment
Satan is thirsting
For a ruby sip
Of human sacrifice.

Upon an ashen wing
The end arrives
A whirlwind chaos
Of flame and horror
There is no remorse
As misery suffocates.

A barren land
Void of whispered sunshine
Eden now collapsed
Forever silenced
By the twisted hand
Of our own evil.

Great poem Krista.. and in my current mood it's hitting me doubly hard.  Loved this one, especially the line, "Upon ashen wings." Great work, greatly enjoyed.

Well written, Krista. But, what a gruesome
interpretation of the bible's apocalyptic
prophesies! It made me shiver.
I hope you didn't inhale before you wrote
it.    No, I'm sure you didn't.
Cheer up, though.

Willem

Alwye -
Immensely intense.
Gripping truths often are that way.
The ancient screams I hear ...
they are to be reckoned with.

Peace and love ~Marge~
