What cause is there
to rest chin on hand
if life
is only
a merry-go-dream?

Would poets
lose fuel
for words if
sorrow wilted
to leave a stalk
alone
of joy?

For life
lines the brow
and lines
the page

and torment
becomes a call
to hope

Every gladdened song
therefore
is brighter still
when a tune
of loss
is sung before

Poets strong
keep singing
words of life

guardians
in our gardens
of death and light

have taken from their own lands
the echo of their story...Enya

Dear Severn,
I beg to differ with you on a comment regarding one of my poems, although it was beautifully expressed, But you are the one who has been an inspiration to all of us, at such a young age, to have written such a variety of works, (which incidently, I would like an autographed copy of your first book of poetry). with such maturity and insight well beyond your years. And here is another example. It's great!

Severn,
Your groping gives more light
Than all my hoping. Beautiful poem.

Oh Liz.
I don't know what to say.
Except: Thankyou.
Everyone can claim to have inspired in their own way, I think - and you HAVE inspired me my friend.

Severn I loved this piece.  I especially liked the phrase "if life is only a "merry-go-dream"

Severn, you are so remarkable and so keenly aware of life and give it such grace and rhythm with words that take my breath.

A truly lovely poem, shows a great depth of insight and mirrors perfectly the aspirations of the true poet's heart.
Well done!

Severn -
Again ... such truth in your words.
I love merry-go-rounds ...
they spin the most fantastic people into our playgrounds.
So glad you came to play.
I hear you singing !
