We might be giants (please help me with this one!!)

We might be giants

In the glow of a coal-oil lamp
scolded by the tongue of flame
from a wick turned up just enough
to cheat a few more hours from the darkness
a little man sits imagining
faces to the voices crackling
through vacuum tubes warmed
by current from the wind turned propeller
generating worlds he never knew
until the words of giants penetrated
this room of flickering shadows
and cobwebs dancing in the
heat belched from glass chimneys
darkened by the soot of industrialization-

and he felt giant too.

In the glow of a 34T UVGA
hypnotized by the scroll of words that
choke the eyeballs with the grip of a strangler
breathing in only the seconds
and exhaling hours by the lung-full
sits a little man tapping
words on the keyboard like a pianist
playing his thoughts to an audience
in a packed house from another time zone
warmed by the embrace of their monitor
grasped by the likeness from its screen
darkened by the soot of isolation-

And he felt giant too.
