Your silence is so eloquent
Each time we chance to meet..
As is the way you seem to choose
Those times to cross the street.

And still you say there’s nothing wrong-
That we can still be friends.
Friends who wish to run and hide?
Is this how romance ends?

Dare I take the time to call?
And ask you for a date?
Or will your Mother scold again-
Declaring, “It’s too late”!

“Too late? at four fifteen p.m.”?
I’ve never heard the like...
And when I asked to walk you home-
You said, “Go take a hike”.

I do not understand, my love-
What is it I have done?
For you to treat me as you do-
My one and only one?

Loved your expression.  My favorite line: "Your silence is so eloquent".  I've been in midst of that silence too. Sad and touching.
