An impromptu poem He Touched Me Across a room I saw him there And thought I recognized the face Perhaps his spirit I remembered From another time and place But it seems that he remembered me And was startled at a friend to see And somehow he touchred me I think I fell in love that day But time was short and moments few And I regretted in a way Leaving one I never knew I thought again I'd never see This man who left to sail the sea But he touched me One day a letter came to me Though we were continents apart His eloquence enraptured me And filled a young and happy heart I cried a thousand joyful tears But would not see his face for years But his music touched me Then quite by chance or luck or fate I came to see his face once more In a distant place we then embraced I fell in love forever more But time was short and moments few He had important things to do But at last he touched me Then life took twists and turns, it seems I was somewhere I didn't want to be In circumstances strange to me And saw what I didn't want to see But thoughts of him would never fade The loss of love I dearly paid For he still touched me Though oceans always came between Fate would bring us close once more For among the billions on the earth Years later through an open door I saw his face, he looked my way On a New York City summer day And our eyes touched We spent some time over wine I told him of my love for him And he confessed the same of me As the cafe lights began to dim But time was short and moments few I had important things to do But his words touched me More turns of fate on through the years Made me aware the path he chose But even now the fire burns Though loved ones fill my happy home My heart no longer makes demands To see his face or touch his hand But he is always with me Elizabeth Santos Sorry if this was boring |

Boring??? HARDLY! It is beautiful! A sad story, told in such a lovely verse. I love it ------------------ It's not the love you fear, but the fall from the height~Edwin McCain |

Elizabeth, my friend ... You touched me with your gentle verse. So wonderful to meander through the memories with you. If he wasn't real in your life ... well, he was in mine. And for the 'touching', I thank you. ~Marge~ ------------------ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

I'd tell you how to delete your posts, Elizabeth, but I don't want you to do that!!! Here, I think ALL our hearts are "open books" (after all, poetry expresses what you truly feel) and yours is most certainly not boring. I enjoy your poems, so keep 'em coming! HUGS Elizabeth |

Boring is NOT a word I would ascribe to this piece, Elizabeth - It's very touching.... to say the least... |
