Standing at the doorway,
Into the room she gazes.
Her eyes slide over everybody,
Looking for his familiar face.
She finally finds him...
Waits while he stays engaged in conversation,
Waiting for him to look up at her.
She's afraid to approach,
Knowing that he knows how strong her feelings are,
Knowing that he can not feel as much...
He can not feel the same.
She waits even longer.
She watches...
He looks up...finally.
He smiles her way - a friendly grin.
A smile that says, "Nothing's changed...you are still my friend..."

It's soooo important to remember the friendship behind our personal feelings - It's a foundation that will see us through many a trial and tribulation.....

yes, I definitely agree on that Nan. When I wrote this poem I was unsure about my friendship with an ex ... well, he's now my best friend ever. You definitely need to remember that friendship is more improtant than anything else.
