To Giggle Rightly

The laughter of children
who laugh
for no reason
reminds me
I have forgotten
how to giggle rightly.

I laugh in moments of desperation,
when not to laugh would insult
when it seems better
than tears,
to fill up empty spaces
in conversations
or at off-color jokes
that I don’t get.

I find no reason to laugh
for no reason
and smile to think
I have forgotten how
to giggle rightly

Boy, Martie, this is so true. We forget how much fun it was to just giggle for giggle's sake. Of course, those who do get looked upon very suspiciously!

You said it, Martie! Of course, I laugh for seemingly no reason, and they all think I'm nuts. Go figure! Anyways, good job.

Imagine how much happier the world would be if we would all recapure the laughter of childhood! Well done, Martie! I enjoyed this!

*Giggle* *Giggle* I found myself being reminded of the instant laughter of children who need not explain their giggles at all.
I find that I might as well laugh at myself ... it's for sure that someone else is doing it !
Laughter is the easiest thing to do ...
I'm always ready with an earnest smile and love laughing out loud.
My co-workers know that I'll get a laugh out of them before the day is over. I love spontaneous humor and it's greatest joy is the laughter it creates along the way.
Thank you for this one ... I'm smiliing !

I do laugh, I really do,
but seems to me,
that the purity of that first laugh
has just gone out of me.

Laughter is what causes all these lines on my face. LOL Thanks for the comments all.
