I wrote this almost a year ago, after my sweet puppy was killed in a car accident. I lost you, my special friend today, You were taken suddenly An accident of grave outcome, No warning or time to flee. From a puppy until now Sweet Umby my precious boy, You brought me such happiness You were my source of joy. I had a favored saying, An expression oh so true. "I love this puppy" I would declare My words of love to you. Now, today, you are gone My heart an empty space. I can still here you barking And still more see your face. I feel so alone without you As tears fall from my eyes I know if you were here you'd kiss away my cries. If I had just one more day I'd share these words with you I'd tell you you're a good boy no matter what you do. Umby, my sweet Umby If only I had known today would be the last balls and sticks to be thrown If I had known these would be Our last moments to share I wouldn't have minded the rain I would not have even cared But, I didn't get to tell you I didn't get to say The words I always told you "I love this puppy", today...... |

This is such a sweet poem. No lack of emotion here...and with good reason. There are fewer things in life sadder that the loss of a pet. You expressed it well |

Very touching, Sraet. I also lost my puppy by an auto accident. It was heartbreaking. You have expressed the sadness very well. ------------------ Denise |

Thanks for you kind words, although it has been a year I do still feel the pain in this poem (I actually have a printed and framed copy on my wall with his collar and playthings). Only someone who has ever loved a pet can understand. |
