###sorry for this departure but I just love the stories of chivalry and swordplay### Flashing steel cuts through the night, Four riders in their moonlit flight, Persued by horesemen weilding steel, Knowing they will never yield. The four outride their angry pursuit And pause just long enough enroute To set a trap for those who follow Their elusive quarry into the hollow. The four riders wait and watch in silence As their pursuers race with violence Into the trap where their horses are snared Flesh being torn and teeth being bared. Then mount up the four and into the night They ride by the moons waning light Toward the shore where the ship does wait Where the evil villian holds his bait. Aramis, Athos, Porthos, and Dartegnan Ride through the night with abandon To the ship where the lady waits To certain death by the hand of fate. The four ride up to the quiet ship As the villian stands and lets word slip "You'll never leave here Musketeers! You're in it now up to your ears!" The trap is sprung, foul villian roars As swordsmen fall upon the four, And flashing steel and curdled cry Cut through the fabric of the night. As blood and steel quickly combine The four cut through the evil line And reach the villian at his perch Worn and ragged but full of verve. Athos calls for his surrender Porthos holds him as he quivers Aramis prays for his immortal soul As Dartegnan moves below. Porthos trips and the villian grins As Aramis is taken by evils' twins And Athos draws his sword and moves To match the villian's swift shoes. The villian draws and flings his steel And Athos relishes the feel The combat short though most complete As the villian falls at Athos' feet. Maiden rescued, work here done They mount up strong yet again And back to Paris they quickly ride To join their fellows at the Queen's side. ------------------ Once I was brilliant, now I no longer shine, but the twinkle in my eye speaks of another time.
