My heart may be filled with great gratitude
But I’m still smothered by grim solitude.
Surely some place on this earth there must be
Someone, somewhere who is grateful for me?
There are always tables where I can wait
For this year’s chance to overload my plate.
I’ll even add my blessings right on cue,
Smile wide and laugh when all the others do.
But emptiness of soul cannot be stuffed
With turkey, and at last, I’ve had enough.
I cannot face another shopping season
Pretending joy is mine with no reason.
So once again, my prayer will simply be
Bless those I love; find someone who’ll love me.

Very touching poem. I believe we are in the same boat, take an oar, keep rowing. This is not the Titanic and we will survive!

Thank you so much... I appreciate the love and hugs very much.... and PDV, maybe we could row together? *G*

But I'm not wallowing, honest I'm not. *G* Well, maybe a little bit... but that's only cause I can't get into yahoo or hotmail and I'm seriously suffering email deprivation! LOL.

Hear that, Toe??? *G* Where you be???

RG: I can't get into yahoo or hotmail... in fact, this site is one of the very few I can get into this morning... and I've been trying to catch up with Toe here... but haven't been able to. I figured a good self-pity poem would draw him out... if only to yell at me! LOL.

this is written so eloquently, gratitude is one thing, that empty spot that aches for that someone special is another.....here's wishing my friend

There's someone somewhere in this world
Whom I have yet to meet
Who some day in some special way
Will make my life complete

And it will happen!, if it already hasn't

Very nice poem
Elizabeth
