I only spoke to him for the first time,
Sunday the one just past,
Then to my surprise,
Monday night was a blast.

My father he rang me long distance,
We chatted for two hours or so,
Not once was there any awkwardness,
The conversation just seemed to flow.

I found out so many things,
To much to list here now,
I feel he is a lot like me,
Emotionally or spiritually somehow.

He is one of 10 children,
I was an only child,
From a small precious family life,
The numbers have run wild.

I treasured every moment,
Every memory shared,
So nice to be told,
How much he always cared.

I admitted a little secret,
How when I was married,
The thought briefly crossed my mind,
I wished it was he my arm did carry.

He said when he saw my wedding picture,
That thought had crossed his mind,
After so many years of searching,
A similar soul I did find.

I'm still trying to take it easy,
Not get my hopes up too high,
But if things continue the way they have,
My happiness will reach the sky.
