Remembering Cherokee He took a rifle in his hand He drove the wind, consumed the land He found the other on the field To swifter bullet forced to yield He pushed him back to build a place And never looked him in the face And never looked him in the soul Nor tender spirit did console From age to age and year to year Nor helped to wipe away the tear Nor did he look inside himself To see history repeat itself Elizabeth Santos |

Elizabeth, I've seen you state the same crusade. It is a thing that time has made. It is, it seems a part of life, But then that is the way of strife. The beauty lies within your words They fly around like firebirds. Love your poem. *L* |

Sy, Crusader I have never been But haunting me since early youth The yearn to learn most from life And then crusade to tell the truth Elizabeth |

Elizabeth - You KNOW I like this one. Thank you, my friend. Do please read The Trail Of Tears ... you will understand why mine fall. The legends are written in the blood of American Indian ancestors ... for all to know. ------------------ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

So wonderful Elizabeth! I loved both Marge's Trail of Tears and Remembering Cherokee for I loved that time in American history, as an Australian I find it fascinating. Especially love the book and video 'True Women' about the Trail of Tears all based on fact. I watch it repeatedly find it so fascinating. So thanks again for sharing your slant on this history with one who loves it so. ------------------ The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there IS to celebrate. ~Isis~ (Daughter of Mystery) |
