Lumpy oatmeal makes me crazy!

An over-sized gorgon faced the crowd without fear;
she wildly spoke in castigating and strident tones
The strong lyceum doors were propped open wide,
as gazes, filled with hate, were cast upon the crone.

Her words were clearly filled with maleficent intent,
as cruel and beady eyes stared from rubicund face;
her chin, verruca-covered, drew horrified stares.
Any pity for her disappeared without a trace.

Her long jeremiad went on from noon ‘til dusk.
The crowd closed in ‘round her at the demise of sun,
she was then shackled upon platforms made of wood;
and a rope was wound tightly until she was hung.

Well done, Alison! Two of those words I had never heard of and you blended them brilliantly into the poem.

Hats off to you, miss
