O.K., I know I'm very late with this, however, in my own defense, I don't really have a "favorite" poet or poem, so I cheated a little and took the lyrics from an old "Donovan" tune that was one of my favorites back in the early seventies. Donovan wrote: "God is playing marbles with his planets and his stars creating havoc through my life through his influence on Mars that's why I'm stumbling down the highway on my boots of steel I should be rolling down the skyway on my cosmic wheels" Here's what I came up with: Listening to the music in the words that poets pen through their works revisited are themes from way back when sometimes a chord will oscillate with something quite profound such things are timeless by the na- ture of their very sound as we gain in knowledge of these people and their lives through the joys and heartaches that their passages revive as Donovans' recording of a song called " Cosmic Wheels" may words be made to emulate the sound of "boots of steel" While replaying records which produce no given sound sifting through the wreckage of these words I've jotted down if then successful will those words which sound as "boots of steel" bring back for one more spin around Donovans' "Cosmic Wheels" |
