An Ode to a Friend
I never appreciate enough about my friend
As much as I admire her way of being in the world
I cannot fully comprehend
How richly my life has been impearled

With freely given friendship generously bestowed
My life has been inspired by her natural zeal
Not demanded and certainly not owed
This gift has given me a chance to heal

Impossible to measure or define the scope
Of positive effects derived from caring and encouragement
I gratefully accept this newfound hope
And greet each day without fear of chastisement.

I truly do not know who is more fortunate,
your friend for having you as a poet...
or you, having the ability to be impearled!
Love that word!

Bridget,
This was a nice read, I'd have to say you're both fortunate.

Friendship is surely a theme that's worth an ode... and you've done it a lovely justice here, Bridget - I enjoyed your poem very much, dear lady...
