All righty - This should be fun. We've never ventured into prose in the workshop. Where do we start when we write fables?
quote:

ELEMENTS OF A FABLE:

* Usually animal characters with human qualities, wise or foolish story, a moral.

* Beginning: setting, characters in situation

* Middle: explanation of what the problem is and how characters attempt to solve problem.

* End: Moral or lesson to be learned from story.

(from Columbia Education Center summer workshop)

So - We're writing a short story involving animals and imparting a moral lesson to our readers...

Here are some examples from the master... http://www.pagebypagebooks.com/Aesop/Aesops_Fables/

Let's have some fun with this one gang...

Yay!

This just might be an assignment I can complete.

(Something new for me to scribble in that poor abused marble notebook of mine.)

I'll keep my fingers crossed--it should be done in about four years.

Wise or foolish uh? Let's see how foolish I can write, or am I old enough to be wise now?

Prairie Inkwells reviewed a very complete synopsis of how to write fables in anticipation of Nan's January lesson, found here
http://www.folktales.net/fable.htm

And guess what?  I've sketched mine out!  Now, on to the fine tuning of story-time!

I heard the word prose
so I'm sticking in my nose
to see if I am able
to write a lucid fable.

Looking forward to this!

Ok, think I got mine done and posted, but...um...I had to put it in MC. It started out innocent enough, but changed somewhere around the middle, and there was nothing left to do but to see it through to the end.
