Well then - I've had a request for Acrostics... That's fine - We can do that... But nobody said we had to make it simple, right? So - (from the archives again - gotta love'm)... You can take your choice here.. Go for Acrostics 101 or try your hand at Acrostics 201 - or - if you're really brave - go for broke... Try Acrostics 501... Passions Graduate Credit issued to successful candidates... ![]() ACROSTICS 101 This level actually isn't really difficult, and most beginners can master it quite easily. The first thing you'll need to do is to decide what or whom you're going to write about. Some poets use a name, and others use a message of some kind... as you can see in Marge's wonderful pre-class warmups (when she found her way in from the playground) Marge formatted her message vertically so that each letter became the first letter of the first word of each subsequent line. Lo and Behold - She found herself with an Acrostics Can Rob Our Sane Thoughts In Crafting ACROSTICS 201 That one too easy for ya??? Let's take another step. Your Acrostic Message will do one of two things - either continue its message from the left side over to the right - so that the message is one continuous one... ... the message can reflect itself on both the left and right - The first and last letter of each line will be the same, and your acrostic will read down both the left and the right margins of your poem.... ChaotiC RemindeR Of poetic adO Simple insanity iS The guaranteed resulT If you should dare try it I Can bet it will be catharctiC HAD ENOUGH??? NO??? THEN YOU'RE A MASOCHIST!!!!... Next... ACROSTICS 501 What's that mean??? Use SOME TYPE OF FORMATTING... I'll be kind and let you choose your own format... but.... Think METER Think RHYME and Here's the best of all THINK PALINDROME Yep... a DOUBLE ACROSTIC PALINDROME ACROSTICS for poetic PhD's PiP As it is, it is A Laptop spot paL I wondered ~ Now I NaN Deem a meeD Resumes reverse museR One post lilts Open, O Me, Open if a fine poeM Edit PiP-tidE Pick Your Poison, Folks...![]() ![]() ![]() |

okay, I honestly didn't know you started this acrostic clinic when I posted mine in Open#25. But since Sunshine drug me in here I guess I will spend time doing some homework and maybe actually develop some poetic skill rather than fumble along on blind luck. Nan, are you ready for me? ![]() Yesterday is ash, tomorrow is smoke; only today does the fire burn. |

ACROSTICS 101 Ample Chances to Repeat Offensive Sentences To Incite Cryptic Souls AROSTICS 102 PEACE Peaceful dreams must not stoP. Each soul must forgivE. All hearts need A Cry that is cathartic. Each becomes OnE. ACROSTICS 501 (gulp!) SIS Sis o sis, I b I, Sis o sis, u b u. Talk about a brain twister! LOL, this one made me cross-eyed, and I think my migraine just came back! I'm sure that 501 got a failing score, but I still got a good laugh anyway. ![]() [This message has been edited by Midnitesun (04-14-2003 12:53 AM).] |

Hey ice, if I wasn't sooooo lazy, i might be better, but as it is - I write when overwhelmed with inspiration - kinda makes me mad at myself that I do that. I think I'll do some rework on that part of me... get me to apply myself to something other than hanging around life. Yesterday is ash, tomorrow is smoke; only today does the fire burn. |

Well, I got to 201, but 501 is spraining my brain. How about a 301?? Maybe AxxxxAxxxxA CxxxxCxxxxC RxxxxRxxxxR OxxxxOxxxxO SxxxxSxxxxS TxxxxTxxxxT IxxxxIxxxxI CxxxxCxxxxC (X can be any number of letters or spaces but the center ACROSTIC needs to be in the middle or darned close to it?) Now I just have the idea, let me see if I can dream one up? KJ Through rubble and trouble and dark of night |
