There once was a girl from Nan's Tucket
Ate scallops and clams by the bucket
With summer her cheer
Y'all stay 'way from here
You know this is really MY Tucket....

Limericks are pretty easy and fun - Anapestic meter is the challenge...
Have we any takers???

At a local used book store I ran across a fat book entitled "Dirty Limericks." I paged through it and was amazed that people could come up with so many, many dirty limericks. Then I looked at the cover of the book again and realized that I had the title a bit wrong. It actually was "Dirty Limericks, Volume 2." One of my inlaws calls all my poems limericks. None of them actually are. So I'm a little afraid to justify his charge. It's bad enough that I've written haiku! [Snobby Ken puts his self-important nose in the air.]

Here's an attempt at a limerick.  It misses the boat in that the first line doesn't rhyme with lines 2 and 5.  But it sounds like a limerick, if you read it right.

Limerick of Lying

The Christ Child lies in a manger.
The President lies under oath.
    Not much common ground
    between them is found
but a Starr to make manifest both.
