It's Spring and I'm not ready yet
My roses are coming alive
Depression I'll get soon I bet
And my mood will take a dive

My roses are coming alive
I still have to cut them all you see
And my mood will take a dive
I just haven't the time to be free

I still have to cut them all you see
Spring is coming too soon this year
I just haven't the time to be free
Oh dear, where is my cutting gear

Spring is coming too soon this year
All plants will grow so very big
Oh dear, where is my cutting gear
I think I'm going to be sick

All plants will grow so very big
I'm standing alone in this ordeal
I think I'm going to be sick
It's every year the same I feel

I'm standing alone in this ordeal
Depression will come soon I bet
It's every year the same I feel
It's Spring and I'm not ready yet

Let me guess.  You had this in a box buried underneath your roses and thought "I'll just go cart that little treasure out..."

sigh...

I don't think I'm going to get around to this...

not when perfection has unfolded before me

Dear Titia--

These pantoums are fun.  I just tried writing one and after a while it seems as though they are writing themselves.  Maybe I did something wrong.

Titia dear, spring doesn't come too early for me.  The plants can just go wild and I'll simply enjoy watching them grow.  Relax and just smell the roses!

This was delightful reading.  Looks right to me.  Wish I was an expert so that might mean something.  I'll hang in there 'til I get it right.

*hugs* Titia...

I know just how you feel... I end up with Spring depression also... sort seems an odd time of year too... all the beauty, all the blooms... all the happiness all around... and I sit and find myself unhappy.

oh well ;-) Summer will come soon!

Very well written piece... I could very much feel what you were saying.

Thanks for all your concern, but it doesn't bother me too much. It used to and I drove my hubby crazy. I've a very big garden and do all the gardening myself, I don't trust my man to work the garden for he would leave the weed and pull out the plants LOL.

I've a very wild growing garden and I like that. I don't cut the roses way back, just clipping where I don't want them.
Stinging nettles are a problem here. If I let them grow, they will grow into a bush higher than myself. I once got lost in 5 m2 really got disoriented.

Pantoums are fun to do I think

Sunshine, I didn't dig this out under a rose, although it didn't take me too much time to write it.

Shenachie, don't be shy, you're in a poetry-group and know more about poetry than I do probably, for I don't know anything at all.

Cassidy, see above, if I don't have the time I just let it grow.

This is great Titia. And so quick too. I think I'll skip this class but I might try a limerick or two.

Wow Titia! You did this very good. I don't quite understand how to do it, so I am having a little bit of trouble with this one. But, I'll keep trying.

Hi friends, thanks for your replies.

Let me tell you how I work:
First I put the a1,a2,b1 etc. on my sheet. I think of a theme and put the first line in on the places it is supposed to come. You can see imediately where you have to think up a new rhymingword. You'll see that you only have to think up two lines in each stanza and the last stanza is filled with the lines you've thought up earlier. DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE TO YOU???

It really is fun to do and this one took me only maybe a half hour.
Actually the poem is writing itself along the line.

I was never good at geometry nor algebra, so the a1 b1 a2 b2 etc confuse me.  I have to see the written word [using yours as an example] to get me through the idea...

no wonder I have a hard time understanding METER...

I think I'm more a "see and say" and "show and tell" gal...

and I sincerely appreciate all of the extra information you put in your replies, Titia, which allows us to get a better glimpse of your world!

Even in the middle of town Spring's beauty is unfolding. Wonderful pantoum, wonderful theme.

If your Pantoums continue to blossom as profusely as your gorgeous roses ... we're in for quite a treat~
