OK, all - I did it - I had to write a sonnet, and it's Groundhog Day... Here ya go.. Withal enough of deep frostbitten woe. Embanked like hoary fortress to dismay Emerging marmot's peek from snowy quay, From slumber's wrest by sleightly vernal show. As winds of February gust and blow, Now's just the time to will the sun away; For Phil the Punxsatawney skies all gray, To expiate the wanton frigid snow. Once bundled from hibernal sleep aground, The groundhog hesitantly peers around. His languid eyes sole harbinger of spring, Deem whether six ensuing weeks shall bring The rest of winter's icy throes replete… Unless his frightful shadow spawns retreat!! |

This is just awfully clever. Hard to read with so many "big" words but quite enjoyable and fun. Give yourself a gold star. Thanks, Pete |

Oh ... you are just sooooooo clever~ I wouldn't know a correct sonnet from a groundhog ... but I like this anyhow~ *Hugs* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

I always get scared by my own shadow. Does that make me a groundhog? Too cute Nan! |
