March seventeen comes our way
to celebrate St Patrick's Day
in hotels and pubs
and rubbitty dubs
the Irish have something to say

In Ireland religion is strong
Who can say who is right, who is wrong
in orange or green
they vie to be seen
but wind up by joining in song

Erin's Isle a place of full mist
a land where the Blarney is kissed
and all men have seen
the Leprecauns' dream
yet decisions are made by the fist

Munda, I know and I've propably got it wrong. Metre is the bane of my life and I think it's a pronounciation thing I've only just figured out the iambic pentametre.

Munda,
Do you think I maybe need some Dutch courage before facing Nan.
Perhaps you could stand in front of me and distract her.

ROFL! Ok, I'll make you a deal... I'll help you with your meter and we'll face Nan together... I fear I have no idea how to distract her other than by "perfect"meter.

Kethry,
If I understand it ( which is questionable )
The anapestic meter when used in a limerick is ...
da da Da , da da Da , da da Da
da da Da , da da Da , da da Da
da da Da , da da Da
da da Da , da da Da
da da Da , da da Da , da da Da

Ta da ! Or in my case maybe dumb dumb Dumb !
Nice read in any case

Thanks Doc,
now my head is full is full of da, da, Da's and it should probably be, da de dum (that's for me)
da de dum (not where I want to be)
da,da de dumb (got this from drinking rum)
da da de dumb, (it's making me quite numb)
da da de dum fiddle de dee. Rats! gonna stick to Australian slang, and write in irregular feet, or fathoms or els.
