Oh celebrate on Christmas morn An angel whispered to me Our Savior Jesus Christ was born God said we are to be reborn The babe will guide us to thee Oh celebrate on Christmas morn Though hidden from Herod's scorn He sent His son for all to see Our Savior Jesus Christ was born Swaddling clothes he'll adorn In a manger sleeping silently Oh celebrate on Christmas morn Three wise men with faces forlorn View the babe most passionately Our Savior Jesus Christ was born Standing back in clothing torn Joyful that He is my destiny Oh celebrate on Christmas morn Our Savior Jesus Christ was born |

Christmas is a great theme for a villanelle, and you've captured its spirit beautifully. Your rhyme scheme and format are nicely intact, and your theme certainly develops well. Your meter is primarily iambic tetrameter... Your repetitions adhere nicely, while your other a and b lines deviate slightly... Meter is the easiest aspect of a poem to adjust, so I'd say you've got a winner here... Nice job - and welcome to the workshop.. |
