I don't like this as well as the other, but thought I'd throw it out there since it uses a different meter/syllable count ... Of Death In wisps of mist, of woven dream In wisps of mist, of woven dream Lost spirits walk in quiet grace Lost spirits walk in quiet grace In dream, lost wisps of spirits grace In woven mist of quiet walk. Of silence made the hanging shroud Of silence made the hanging shroud Fear fades the living into death Fear fades the living into death The living death-shroud fades into The hanging silence made of fear The wanting swallowed in the numb The wanting swallowed in the numb Dark hopes by shadow fingers claimed Dark hopes by shadow fingers claimed The wanting claimed by swallowed hopes Numb fingers shadow in the dark In woven shroud of hanging mist The spirits' wisps in silence dream Numb quiet fades, swallowed by fear Into dark fingers wanting death In grace the living walk, of hopes, Of shadow made: the lost – the claimed. Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers. |

Reading this, I feel as though I am walking through a dreamscape. Skyfyre, this astounding attempt is what inspired me to actually pick up Nan's challenge. Oh! the ending lines of each stanza... with the loss of any other words I have to say: poetry, pure poetry. I will read this many, many more times. ~ Beth |

One of the reasons I asked Linda to post her paradelle is because she has such a perfect sense of meter... and rhyme... She's just a darned good poet and can meet any challenge given to her... This one's great... She's written in perfect iambic trimeter, and constructed the paradelle beautifully in the prescribed format... |
