OK - the consensus is sonnets...

Let's do sonnets for the first half of May (but how about doing a variation and deviating from the standard Shakespearean format)...

For the second half, I like Doreen's suggestion - How about some sound devices?... We can have a great time with alliteration..

In June we can do ballads - How's that sound??

So - Who's in for the first round? Sonnets it shall be...

I'm in for an Italian sonnet   Although I think the people signing up for the first time for sonnets would like the English sonnet, so I'm in for that one too.

Ballads in June ? Yeahhhhhhh !

Could you please explain "sound devices" ? I have no idea what that means. LOL

If I may, I should love to join this class again....I've always wanted to write a sonnet! The other things you mentioned grab my interest too!! When do we start?

Love and hugs,
Lizzie

Hi Nan,

I'm almost back. Is it all right (note proper usage) if I paly too? I promise to behave (unless, of course, that delinquent JB starts doing those spitballs and thumbtacks things.

A question from the ignorant one. What kind of sonnet are we doing and what is the format? Are we to choose?

Please, can it be English?  I'd give the others a try, but I'm afraid it wouldn't do much good.

Pete:

It is REALLY good to see you back.  Don't fret the thumbtacks ... I'm turning over a new leaf.

Gene:

If she lets you write and English sonnet I think it ought to be in MODERN English.    Nice to see you in the Workshop.

Nan:

Italian/Petrarchan sonnets are relatively tough and I see quite a few new faces in here ... maybe you ought to allow us to choose our format.  Just a suggestion.
