I know you may have trouble Accepting what I feel. But please believe me Mother, This love I've found is real. I know you don't think it is, You think I'm too young to know The meaning behind true love; Just look at me, it shows. Love is only for adults, I'm sure that's what you say. But just open up your mind. I can feel the same way. This love I have is real I can feel it in my heart. I can tell that this is true We can't stand to be apart. He's touched this part of me That I never knew was there. He's helped me find the real me, Or are you not aware? He's changed my life so much Don't you see it in my eyes? He's helped me face the truth Not hiding behind the lies. I really do love him I wish you understood. You say you've been in love, See my point? you should. Please accept that I've grown up. That's the least that you could do. And send your blessings to us In this love that is so true. |

That is exactly the message to send to my mother. She won't let me have a girlfriend untill after highschool. As much as I disagree, I am a sad little mama's-boy and would never go against her wishes. But if she could just read this poem, maybe she would understand. |

I'm blessed enough to have a mother who understands that young people can love just as much as older people. She told me that age is not a factor when you fall in love. When you do, you simply do. And I think she knows that I have. Good luck with your mother, and great work on the poem! *Krista Knutson* ~*Like a lion, without fear of the howling pack, Like a gust of wind, ne'er trapped in a snare, Like a lotus blossom, ne'er sprinkled by water, Let me, like a unicorn, in solitude roam.*~ Hymn Of Buddha |

You really should show that to your Mother. I do hope she will understand. Sometimes, I feel the same way too. |

Shyone--Feel free to show this to your mother if you think it will help at all! Thanks for the reply! Alwye--I wish my mother could understand that age isn't a factor when it comes to love! Whenever I try to explain to her that I can love just like she can she simply brushes it off as "puppy love" and refuses to listen to me. Thanks anyways Eagle--I haven't shown her the poem, and I don't think I will. Explaining hasn't worked, and she's not one who's willing to pay attention to me at all. But still, thanks bunches! |

Oh my goodness... that was a poem I needed to show to my mother a long time ago. She has finally come around and accepts that it's not "puppy love" and we are serious, but believe me, it took a LONG time to get her to even pretend to believe we are real! Just don't think you are alone in the fight against over-protective mothers!!! I hope she listens to you and everything works out! April (BTW, your poem really was good too, not just the message!) ...in your eyes, I see my future in an instant, And there it goes, I think I found my best friend... |
