I touch your face, while you are sleeping Your eyelids flutter, becus you are dreaming my heart pounds from within my chest to know that you're with me and that you don't care about the rest You hold me closer and I turn to face you. Your eyes are big and brown and are sleepy under the lids. So I kiss your forehead and rest my head upon your chest It's a time remebered forever away from prejudice as a coloured and a white hold each other together -x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x This poem was written about my boyfriend Ben, who is black. We get a lot of stick in the street and this he gets a lot from his relatives for dating me, a white girl with a bad rep. I was tired and we were both watching the TV together and it was the most blisful moment, away from all the prejudice that we both suffer. |

[BEGIN RANT] Grr, discrimination pisses me off (umm, does that violate forum langauge policy?) I can't believe that people still care about such inconsequencial points as skin color and the like. Some great society we are! All this technology and we are still bound by some million year old defense mechinism gone a stray! [END RANT] Whoa! Anyways...I liked the poem, even though the men in white that drive the wood-paneled stationwagons are coming to get me...again...ehehehehehehhe! In desprate need of psychoactive threrpy, Deranger |

Prejudice is a horrible, evil thing that only love can conquer. I'm glad that your love has conquered this, and that you have shared it with us. "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." -Oscar Wilde |

Great poem. As much as it hurts to say it, I know exactly how you feel. I had a black boyfriend but we broke up because his parents forbid him to date a white girl. They said that if he continued dating me that they would disown him and he would have to move out...the even sadder thing is that he is only 16 and so am I. I never really thought about how it felt to be discriminated against, but now I know and it has to be the most awful feeling in the world, and even more awful when the person you're in love with, you can't be with because of the color of your skin. Hopefully this problem gets better, because I'm about sick of it. It's a very excellent poem you've written, keep writing. - Danielle "Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do." - Anonymous |
