Author's Note: ***Just a bit about me, and my feelings at the moment... and, oh yes, my room. It's a mess, but I like it that way. This was a joy to write... and I encourage everyone to do it.*** Adolescent Me: Unread text books stacked in corners, Lit candles dripping and bleeding together. Poetry scribbled incoherently across my walls. My world. Scattered papers, scattered thoughts, Incense smoke, curl and rise. Open windows, open mind. A dreamer's paradise. So much thinking, and dreaming and planning. So much working out to be done. So many ideas to turn and churn, So many mental races to run. Grown up too fast, childhood gone. Emotions in motion, life feels so long. Out there there's too much confusion, Too much hatred, Too much delusion. Misunderstanding, broken hearts. Too many people who never got starts. Maybe I hide, maybe I wait, All I know is where I belong. And all I pray is that I wont be too late, When life thinks I'm ready to move along. There's so much yet I don't understand. So much I'm not ready for, so much I'm unsure of. I know one day I'll be ready, to leave my safe haven and travel beyond. But not today, and not tomorrow... That's the day I'm almost afraid of. ...Daysleeper... "We prefer to do things comfortably" said the Controller. "But I don't want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want sin." "In fact," said Mustapha Mond, "you're claiming the right to be unhappy." "Alright then," said the Savage defiantly, "I'm claiming the right to be unhappy." -Aldous Huxley "Brave New World" |

This is a fantastic piece Daysleeper! I feel as though I have just taken a walk inside your mind. I loved the last verse for I can almost relate to where you are coming from. The poetry scribbled on the walls sounds so care free and wonderful. The beauty is being able to have that freedom. Great piece of writing. Thanks for sharing it. ![]() ~AF~ "Poetry is the language in which man explores his own amazement." Christopher Fry |

This is a wonderful piece. You've given a wonderful description of yourself. I enjoyed it much! ![]() "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." -Oscar Wilde |
