to sit and read i do enjoy
poems are reality and beyond
a tear is shed a smile is to be had
a verse for the day i hold fond

creating a piece and posting
a thrill i can't deny
to be proud of a piece of work
then for there to be an encouraging reply

what keeps the poets mind nimble
is not that of love, hate or pain
it is the feeling of being appreciated
a form of low scale fame

for why would we write
if eyes would never fall upon our art?
the truth is that we write for ourselves
to share with others from the heart

for now dusk is approaching
the end of the day is near
for now i will retire
but at dawn i will return here

This is really cool Bec. You always use such good wording.   Very true in all aspects.
