I got home a little late
My face was streaked with tears
My heart was filled with hate
Overcome by all my fears
My daddy came to comfort me
Said, "Don't worry life goes on.
Right now you are unhappy,
but the pain will soon be gone."
"I know he broke your heart,"
My daddy said to me.
"But now you have a brand new start."
My daddy helped me see
The pain will go away
Just take you life day-by-day.

This is a sweet poem.  I have a daughter and I have been there for her in the same way as your dad.  She got married last Saturday and I was one proud father.
Nice piece.
