The engine purrs with a deep-throated roar.
Tires ride the highway with muffled hum.
Racing stripes edge molding along the door.
To mechanized seduction I succumb.

She has eight cylinders custom bored.
A custom transmission I have installed.
Into this car my resources are poured.
Many tires on her I have smoked bald.

The cops say she's colored "arrest me red".
The posted limit I only doubled.
Insurance rates are swimming in my head.
Luckily the cops leave me untroubled.

The t-tops stay off for cruising the road.
With knees on the wheel I take every curve.
Taking the sharp turns we never have slowed.
Those riding with me need a lot of nerve.

Her purr becomes a roar in overdrive.
This gas-guzzler is quite a thirsty car.
On a speed demon's addiction I thrive.
If you haven't guessed, she tore up the tar.

This verse is of my first muscle machine.
Since then I drive on the straight and narrow.
Her glossy skin was buffed to a high sheen.
My car was a cherry-red Camaro.

So KEWL! Love Cameros. Don't know if I could handle the excitement anymore. Souped up Nova was my thing. The speed, but like age does to one, it's slowed me down. It didn't belong to me, but I hope one day I will be able to get one. That has been my dream. I love hot rod cars.

All right - polishing up the '69 Bird right now...only one can rule this road you know...
Good poem, Dream. Makes me wish to be 16 again.
