"Memories can last a lifetime,"
At least that's what they say.
But some memories make a point
Of lasting through the day.

Like those you'd sooner just forget
Of sorrow, tears and pain.
Or, wishing for the time you lost
When you had much to gain.

Still other times when you had felt
Your life was at a loss,
Those friends were there to pull you through,
Now paths you do not cross.

I'd gladly give a day or two
Of memories gone by...
The times when I was vain or vile,
The times I just stood by.

Oh memories, the torture here!
Why can I not forget?
Release my burdens quickly, please
Leave no further regret.

The trouble seems to be in this:
You can not take it back.
So, think before you speak or act...
Harsh memories you'll lack.

Thank you all very much. You make it a pleasure to keep writing. (I might even be getting better at it!!!...doesn't matter to me, I LOVE IT!!!!!)
Now, I have to get going and start on my acrostic siesta.....er..sestina. Oh boy, I'm in deep trouble now!! LOL
