Caught in life's fires
ashes left of soul
rose of stone grew from
outside to deep within
lonely not, in solitude
intense yet gentle
no one's own
ever cold, rose of stone

"Caught in life's fires
ashes left of soul"
Nicely stated

What is left after the fire has died?
Only ashes of what used to be
What is left after you have gone?
Only a shell of what once was me

Thank you ladies.

My first attempt at acrostics...I rarely stray from my usual free verse or rhyme. It is challenging to keep up with the talent here at passions!

Aw, ya beat me, Caroline. I was gonna be the first to recognize it. That darned Craig has me trained to look for acrostics in every poem! Good job.

Sorry to be so late to thank you for your response...afraid real life is taking up too much of my PiP time! LOL

Thanks Balladeer...didn't mean to beat you to the punch, sweetie! LOL Sure, just blame it all on Craig!

Nan, your secret is safe with me!

Denise...they are, but kinda frustrating too! That of course means I have to try another one as soon as time permits!

Thanks Ruth...but I haven't your flair for the truly beautiful
