Sitting in Michael's Lap

I dedicate this to all the folks who took the workshop with me, whose comments, suggestions, and praise made writing this worthwhile ... ya'll know who ya'll are!!

The Surrender

Seductive and sublime the tender night:
Caress of starlight holds me in its sway;
Enchanted moon bespells my mortal sight.

The noise of colour fades; this silvered light
Becalms the clash of hues to soothing gray:
Seductive and sublime, the tender night.

Fair Luna, in her slow and graceful flight,
Holds fast my gaze -- I cannot look away --
Enchanted moon bespells my mortal sight.

In shadow robed, I mouth the darkling rite,
Renouncing evermore the bane of day:
Seductive and sublime the tender night.

Celestial queen, her countenance alight
With royal air, commanding me to stay:
Enchanted moon bespells my mortal sight.

This summons, I am powerless to fight:
It beckons to my soul; I must obey.
Seductive and sublime the tender night;
Enchanted moon bespells my mortal sight.

Enchanting Nocht. I love the visual of this piece.

Nocht,
I was really impressed with your final product, here. Truly and exquisite villanelle, (Like I'm really a judge), but in my eyes and knowing just what goes into these things now, a wonderful job.

As I already told you, this is wonderful. You did a wonderful job in class, I give you an A+...too bad I'm not the teacher, but I think Nan will agree

Such praise from such poets is gratifying!

Michael, I was beginning to wonder whether my little joke in the workshop had ticked you off ... LOL ... I'm glad to see that it didn't! As I wrote in the dedication, I appreciated your suggestions; though I didn't take them, they showed that you were taking an interest in my writing, and I appreciate that.

hoot, you are a gem ... thank you so much for your input as well, and your subsequent praise ... it is always cherished, even if I forget to mention it.

Severn, dsnyder and Pepper ... thanks for your replies ... I hope that this and the other great villanelles we produced for your enjoyment will entice you to join us in the next workshop (I think its going to be pantoums). The more the merrier!
